Mal Corboy Kitchen Design Tips: Using Social Skills For Your Design

Home / Mal Corboy Kitchen Design Tips: Using Social Skills For Your Design

Trying to create a beautiful kitchen can be a real struggle. There are innumerable blogs and books on the topics and trying to sort through all the jargon and lingo can be tough. Working through the designs, especially when you’re not skilled in that area is near impossible. So what do most people do? They hire a designer.

It’s challenging as well when you decide to find a kitchen designer for yourself. They may have good ideas, but you need to know if their projects are going to work for you. You’re the one who has to live with them; the designer gets to go home to their own house at the end of the day.

So, when it comes to your house, your kitchen, and your lifestyle, it’s best to keep it simple. And here’s a unique way to think about how to design a killer kitchen that will be the envy of everybody around.

Use the same skills and techniques people use to become popular in the real world in your kitchen.

How does that work?

Be the Centre of Attention

Attention doesn’t come to those who wait for it. People who want to be the life of the part seek out the attention they require. Your kitchen should do the same. Create a room that screams out for attention and take its rightful place as the centre of your home.

In many homes, it is already that place where people naturally congregate, and so it makes sense that your kitchen should encourage that sort of behaviour. No matter the design, the colours, or the appliances, your kitchen should demand that people stroll in, be awed by it, and want to stay in it all night. Don’t Reveal Everything

Impressive people don’t reveal everything about themselves on the first impression. They hold stuff back so there’s always that mystique and intrigue about them that you’ve got to know more. Use that principle to your advantage in the kitchen.

Design a space that keeps some features hidden away until later. Maybe underneath a cupboard drawer, you have a hidden coffee bar that you use in the mornings. Maybe your benches and cupboards have handless automatic sliders to keep the space smooth and the lines clean. Design a kitchen that has something to be revealed later on and you’ll keep the intrigue high.

Don’t Be Afraid to Stand Out

Some people take this to heart by choosing patterns and clothes that cause them to stand out from the rest of the crowd. They make bold moves to ensure that they’re unique in every respect. Make sure that your kitchen takes this approach too.

If you’re choosing to go the distance and get a professional kitchen designer, choose one who has the ability to make it stand out from the crowd. Your fixtures and benches shouldn’t be found in any home around the country. You should be bold and take a risk to look different from everybody else. This could be a striking appliance like a professional oven, a bold splash of colour in the tiles, or a striking feature in the cupboard and drawers. Get noticed by being different.

Be Universally Appealing

Don’t just appeal to one type of person. If you want to be attractive and the life of the party, everybody should find you appealing. The same should apply in your kitchen. Design it to fit your lifestyle, but keep in mind how appealing it is to others.

If you’re looking to design a kitchen so that you can re-sell it, think about others and what they would want. Do they want a hidden refrigerator? Would they like a double sink in the island bench top? Create some universal appeal and everybody will find something they like in your kitchen.
