Before & After.
Herne Bay Villa Kitchen Renovation.
Nestled in the heart of Herne Bay, this magnificent villa had been meticulously restored to a standard befitting its elegance. As part of the wider renovation, the kitchen required a transformation to match the scale and sophistication of the home. The existing imported European kitchen not only lacked functionality for the owners’ lifestyle—it was also disproportionately small for the expansive kitchen and dining space.
The clients, known for their social lifestyle and vibrant household, regularly hosted friends and family. They envisioned a kitchen where everyone could gather, connect, and converse—ensuring even the cook was part of the occasion.
Our solution was a double island layout, with ovens positioned at each end to suit the clients’ passion for cooking. A generously sized timber benchtop wraps around one end and along one side of the island, creating a warm, cohesive connection between the two zones and offering ample seating for guests.
We specified Corian ‘Sorrel’ benchtops for the islands—chosen for their durability and tactile, warm texture. Bold Sub-Zero refrigeration and wine storage units provide a striking visual centrepiece. To complement their distinctive glass fronts, we integrated overhead cabinets with framed glass doors, echoing their form.
The dark-toned, handleless cabinetry delivers a clean, contemporary finish, while open oak shelving was cleverly introduced into a recessed niche for added character. The space is grounded with wide-plank ash oak flooring, completing a kitchen that balances practicality with refined, architectural detail.
A testament to its performance, a Michelin-starred chef has cooked in the kitchen many times and praised its layout and flow—describing it as a space that “functions beautifully.”
