About the project.
The client brief for this heritage home was simple yet distinctive: they wanted to feature the Sub-Zero PRO48 fridge/freezer, and beyond that, their instruction was simply: “Wow us.”
Inspired by the home’s existing furnishings, we embraced the client’s taste for luxury. With a collection rich in Versace and a black and gold-trimmed lounge, the home exuded opulence. I also drew inspiration from two large globes at the driveway entrance, which I referenced with Flos lights over the kitchen counter.
As this is a heritage home, we faced several restrictions. The primary challenge was that we couldn’t use ducting, as it would require extensive structural changes. To address this, we installed two Elica Star recirculation hoods. Their design beautifully complemented the lavish aesthetic we aimed to create.
All cabinetry features coloured glass with flush handles. The scullery, situated behind large electric glass doors, serves as the primary prep and work area; it’s a generous space measuring 3 by 2.4 metres. The main island counter is divided into two zones—a cleaning zone and a cooking zone, positioned directly in front of the scullery.
Permission was sought to incorporate a Fleur-de-lis pattern in the glass panels, using a bold pink alongside soft white tones. This design choice not only makes the kitchen stand out but also adds another unique, personalised element for the client. LED lighting around the island brings dramatic impact to the space in the evenings.
